When is A Judo Gi Worth Over $300?
When it's for you, and no other Judogi fits.
Most of us will never know this problem, but for those of you who do The
JudoGi Store is listening. There are very few companies out there that
are looking out for the needs of the well above average sized Judoka.
After all Judo originated in Japan and lets face it there really aren't that
many over 260 lb, and/or over 6' 5" Japanese guys out there playing Judo.
However, that does not mean that you are not out there, or that you don't
deserve a great fitting Judogi just like all of our other customers.
Well like the man says "...I have some good news, and I have some bad
news." The good news is that we can fit just about anyone with the
Mizuno Custom Judogi program. The bad news is that the cost might hurt a little
at first. But, I will get back to that later.
The Mizuno Custom Judo Gi Sizing program is just what it sounds like: You can
receive a custom tailored Judogi based on your specifications, and
allowing for current IJF rules, not some cookie cutter pattern locked away in a
warehouse office in Pakistan or somewhere. Of course the Gi is a Double Weave,
with reinforcements in all of the right places, but it is not one of
those extremely heavy Gi's, so it won't be something that is so stiff and
uncomfortable that you will hate having to wear it during the hot summer
months.
This custom made Gi is modeled after the Supreme Judogi found elsewhere on
this site, and which we are told is the same type of Gi that the Japanese team
trains with in Japan. Best of all it is made by Mizuno, and we feel that when it
comes to quality craftsmanship, that's about all you need to say.
Here are the measurements needed to order this Gi:

I am sure that by now you are wondering exactly how much over $300, we
are talking about, and I am happy to say "not much." In fact for just
$320, plus the cost of shipping we can have a custom tailored Judogi made to
your specifications. The cost of shipping will very, but basically the cost for
shipping within the US is the standard $15.00 we charge for any of our high
quality Uniforms. However depending on when the order is placed, and how much of
a hurry you are in there could be an up to $50.00 additional shipping charge for
the trip Overseas.
A 50% Deposit of $167.50, is required at the time your order is placed, and
the second 50% plus any Overseas shipping (if necessary) will be charged when
you Gi is ready to ship to you which should take from 5 to 8 weeks.
Though this service will no doubt most often be used by the "Big
Guys" those are not the only ones who can benefit from the service. Our
first customer to use this service weighed just under 300 lbs, but because he is
only 5' 11" none of the standard Gis that would fit around him would be
anywhere close to the right sleeve and pant lengths. Also we are often asked by
guys over 6' 5", but less than 200 lbs what can be done for them, and the
Custom Sizing program is the answer.
I am certain that there are other "unique" height weight
combinations out there that can benefit from this program, so if you think it
may work for you, just email us your question, and we will try to guide you in
the right direction.
This program is not for everyone. Between Mizuno and Toraki we have many
height weight combinations that we can fit by simply choosing a different size
Jacket and Pants, but if you are one of the many people out there for whom that
just won't work, drop us an email, or give us a call. We are here to help.
